NBA playoff predictions require more attention to individual matchups because every round is played as a best-of-seven series. Teams face the same opponent several times, giving coaches time to change defensive schemes, rotations and assignments from one game to the next. Picks therefore consider not only regular-season form, but also how each series develops after every game.

Rotations usually become shorter in the playoffs, with starters and key bench players taking a larger share of the minutes. Offensive and defensive ratings, half-court efficiency, three-point shooting, rebounding and turnovers remain important, but their value depends on the matchup. A team that performed well during the regular season can struggle if an opponent can consistently target a specific defensive weakness or limit its main scoring options.

Series score also affects NBA playoff predictions. Teams make adjustments after losses, while injuries or changes in playing time can alter the matchup during the series. Home-court advantage matters as well: the NBA uses a 2-2-1-1-1 format, giving the team with home court Games 1, 2, 5 and 7 at its arena.

Playoff experience, performance under pressure and the ability of star players to produce against tighter defenses provide additional context. At the same time, lower seeds can still be strong picks when their style creates a difficult matchup for a higher-ranked opponent.

NBA playoff picks and predictions cover every series from the First Round through the Conference Semifinals, Conference Finals and NBA Finals. Picks and projected scores are updated as each series progresses, with recent games, lineup changes, injuries and tactical adjustments receiving more weight than earlier regular-season results.
